Devils Head. Painted Oak.

Coney Street, York.

The original head had been badly damaged over the year by a leaking drain pipe. This was noticed during a major refurbishment of the 19th century shop front. The head was held together by the paint which enabled me to take it down off the building and which I then backed with plaster to strengthen. This gave me enough to work from in order to reproduce a new head and then to be replaced back onto the building. The head was carved in Oak and finished in gold paint.
